Over the 17 days motorcycling holiday we ride 10 days in Morocco. We ride the best motorcycle roads and take time to explore some of the hidden gems our unique tour has to offer.
We enter North Africa at Tangier on Morocco's Mediterranean coastline and ride through the RIF, Middle Atlas, and High Atlas Mountains and south through the famous Todra Gorge to the Sahara desert.
Our route out of Africa has us ride west through the Draa Valley to the Anti Atlas Mountains following some of the ancient trading routes from Marrakech to Timbuktu. We pass through Berber villages and witness a way of life unchanged for centuries as our ride takes us to the coastal "windy city" of Essaouira, Marrakech and then North out of Africa.

Our tour has been fully researched and personally ridden by John & Brigitte - as with all our tours, it is run & supported by Wildcat Adventures and led by John & Brigitte. They both know Morocco like the back of their hand! We do not subcontract any of our tours!

Two months prior to tour departure date we will send each participant a tour package which includes map with route outlined, and itinerary with accommodation details
Day 1 - Plymouth-Santander Ferry
Rendezvous at Plymouth ferry port approximately13:00hrs for overnight sail to Santander, Spain - 2 berth inside cabins.
Day 2 - Cantabria
Arrive Santander approximately midday and ride through the mountains of Cantabria onto the high plains to our accommodation in a small village near Salamanca.

Day 3 - Extramadura
A fantastic day's riding on quiet roads made for motorcycling through the forests and high Sierras of Extramadura.
We take time to observe the Griffon vultures in their hundreds soaring above the Rio Tajo.
Our ride finishes at our accommodation on the high plains in a town famous for its medieval and renaissance buildings and spectacular Conquistador Castle.

Day 4 - Southern Spain - Overlooking Gibraltar & Africa
A relaxing ride through the high Sierras passing through Seville to our hotel near Algeciras in southern Spain - Great views of Gibraltar and northern Morocco.

Day 5 - Into Africa - RIF Mountains
We take a morning ferry (1.5 hrs) to Morocco.
On arrival at Morocco Customs you may relax by your motorcycle while we take care of ALL of the customs procedures for you and your motorcycle's entry into Morocco.
We ride south through the RIF Mountains to pick up a spectacular section of the Mediterranean coastal road before riding through a deep gorge to our picturesque colourful town high in the RIF Mountains.

Day 6 - The Middle Atlas
We descend out of the RIF Mountains to follow a gorge system to the fertile plains - fascinating riding as we pass through numerous small villages.
An opportunity to visit the famous Roman site of Volubilis (UNESCO World Heritage site) before riding through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Our day finishes with a spectacular ride over the Col Du Zad (2049 metres) to our accommodation in a small village on the high plains overlooking the High Atlas Mountains

Day 7 - The High Atlas Mountains
An adventurous ride over some of the highest and most remote passes in the High Atlas Mountains. Witness the Berber way of live unchanged for centuries.
Our memorable ride finishes in a small village deep in the High Atlas Mountains surrounded by high peaks.

Day 8 - Journey to the Sahara
Today's ride takes us through the Todra Gorge as we follow part of an ancient trade route to Timbuktu.
A day of incredible remote hidden canyons, palmeries, and desert plains to Merzouga.
Our overnight accommodation overlooks Erg Chebbi; the highest dune in Morocco. We enjoy Berber hospitality and fantastic food and the sunset over the dunes.

Day 9 - Land of a Thousand Kasbahs
A great ride on quiet roads through classic desert scenery to the Draa Valley. We cross over the Jbel Sarhro to our hotel high near Ouarzazate.

Day 10 - UNESCO World heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou & The Desert
Today we take a morning walk to explore the 'City of Kasbahs' of Ait Ben Haddou; a UNESCO World Heritage Site - films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Kundun, and Gladiator were filmed here.
Our afternoon ride is on classic quiet desert roads with incredible mountain scenery to our Kasbah in the desert.

Day 11 - Jbel Bani & Anti Atlas Mountains
Another great classic ride along the high plains of the Jbel Bani onto the ridges and spectacular gorges of the Anti Atlas Mountains.
Today's route is through true remote mountain wilderness unknown to tourists.
We arrive at our village high in the Anti Atlas Mountains in the early afternoon. We enjoy the tranquillty of this beautiful mountain area with a visit to a 700yr old traditional Berber house. There is time to explore the local vibrant market.

Day 12 - Anti Atlas Mountains & the Atlantic Coast
We ride out of the Anti Atlas Mountains along a tranquil valley rich with palmeries, fruit orchards, and Berber villages.
Our descent follows a spectacular gorge system to the plains to enjoy a wonderful ride up the Atlantic Coast to the "Windy City" - the ancient walled town of Essaouira.
An opportunity to visit the fascinating ancient fishing port and the colourful medina & markets.

Day 13 - The Imperial City of Marrakech
We ride east along the plains with great views to the High Atlas Mountains and Toubkal (Morocco's highest peak at 4167 metres) to the Imperial City of Marrakech.
Mid afternoon is free to explore some of the highlights of this ancient city; gardens, museums, palaces, tombs and a visit to the unforgettable Djemma el Fna square with its numerous stalls, jugglers, & story tellers - a sight unchanged for centuries.

14 - The Atlantic Coast & OUT OF AFRICA
An early start today with a scenic ride north to link up with the new motorway bypassing Casablanca, and Rabat to the port of Tangier. We catch our late afternoon ferry to Spain.

A great ride north past Seville and through the High Sierras back to our hotel on the high plains.

Day 16 - Santander Ferry
We ride to Santander to board our ferry at approximately 14:00hrs for a 15:15 hrs departure.

Day 17 - Arrive UK Portsmouth ferry port (approximately 14:15hrs arrival).

All rooms are ensuite rooms and most hotels have a pool.

What motorcycle is suitable for the trip?
Suitable for most sport tourers and dual purpose motorbikes. We recommend a minimum capacity of 500cc - please contact us for advice.
Is this tour suitable for pillions?
Yes. Our Morocco Road tour is a great adventure for both rider and pillion. We use a high standard of accommodation.
What are the Passport / Visa Requirements?
For Travel to Morocco or through Spain, you do not need a visa (British, EU, USA, Canada) however please check with entry requirements based on your citizenship. You must have a valid passport with an expiry date of no less than 6 months from your date of entry.
What Documents do I Need?
You will need your full motor cycle driving license, an International Driving License (IDL), valid passport, personal and vehicle insurance documents, your motoring association or equivalent breakdown numbers. In the UK you may purchase an IDL from any major post office You will need passport size photos and your passport to obtain an IDL. It is entirely your responsibility to bring with you all of these documents. A comprehensive document list is sent to you on booking.
What happens at the Moroccan Border?
We take care of all your border formalities including temporary importation of your motorcycle. Just sit back and enjoy 'the show'.
Will my motorcycle insurance cover me for travel in Morocco?
You must give your insurance company a call to tell them of your destination(s) and duration of stay. Your insurance company will issue a green card or amend your insurance policy to provide cover. We assist you purchasing motorcycle insurance at the border if it is required.
Do we ride as a group?
We do not ride in a convoy but rather in small groups with each group establishing their own pace and style of riding. You may ride alone, in small groups, or decide to ride with the guide.
How much experience is required?
Experience in touring abroad is not essential but recommended. However your guide will ensure that you are given the correct advice and care. It is essential that you are comfortable riding your motorcycle and that you ride your own style and pace – we’ll take care of the rest.
What distances do we cover each day and do we have rest days?
Please see specific tour details. Our routes are designed and mileage calculated to accommodate terrain, climate, temperature, and points of interest. Adequate time is provided to relax and even enjoy some Moroccan retail therapy.
Will my motorcycle be secure at night?
All our accommodations are selected with motorcycle security in mind. As with all our tours we recommend that you use a disc lock or security chain.
What happens if my motorcycle breaks down?
AA or RAC will provide emergency breakdown and recovery in Europe only. It is therefore essential that you obtain the cover prior to starting the tour.
There is no similar service in Morocco at the moment. However Wildcat Adventures in association with our Moroccan agent would endeavour to arrange recovery of motorcycle and rider (pillion) to the nearest garage in Morocco for motorcycle repair. If necessary we would assist in the recovery of motorcycle and rider (pillion) to the ferry at Tangier. In the unlikely event that these services become necessary in Morocco the client would be responsible for all recovery/repair and associated costs incurred including accommodation, meals, telephone charges, etc.
What range should my fuel tank have?
You should be familiar with your fuel tank range. Each day we will provide you with details on the distances to the filling stations. An ideal minimum tank range for all our Morocco tours is 200 miles.
Is this tour run by Wildcat Adventures?
Absolutely! All our tours are organised and led by John & Brigitte of Wildcat Adventures - we do not subcontract ANY of our tours!
